Abstract
D-39 BAYESIAN SEISMIC INVERSION AND ESTIMATION IN A SPATIAL SETTING 1 Introduction The reservoir characteristics represented by the elastic material properties P-wave velocity S-wave velocity and density in this study is usually determined from inversion of seismic data and well observations. The seismic data has good spatial coverage but is associated with considerable observation errors while the well observations are available only along well traces but have usually high precision. The elastic material properties are not uniquely defined by the seismic data and the well observations hence the inverse problem appears as ill-posed. In this study a Bayesian inversion approach
