BROADHEAD Saudi ARAMCO PO Box 1372 Dhahran 31311 SaudiI Arabia Abstract An inversion algorithm is presented that incorporates an uncertainty analysis where the solution was obtained in terms of a linear system of equations. Further approximation yielded analytical results for the variance in certain limiting cases which explicitly reveals the impact of the uncertainty sources on the impedance estimate. The method is also extended to the post-inversion uncertainty problem where there is an existing impedance volume that an uncertainty estimate is desired for. Introduction The use
