P008 THE TANGER-RABAT SEGMENT NORTHERN MOROCCO A PROMISING ZONE FOR HYDROCARBON EXPLORATION Abstract 1 The Tanger-Rabat segment constitues the northern extension of the Moroccan Atlantic Basins. This area located at the eastern Atlantic margin is developped in the junction between the Western Moroccan Rif and the Spanish Betic alpine chains. Sedimentary deposits within this zone resulted essentially from the relative sea level changes during the complex successive tectonic phases of continental collision and plate divergence inducing the deposition of various and complex sedimentary series. The synrift serie was dominated by red beds and evaporites deposits within grabbens and half grabbens
