chers to analyze the attenuation mechanism of seabed sediments. This paper presents a technique for inversion of shear-wave attenuation profile from interface wave dispersion. By focusing on two issues i.e., to extract attenuation dispersion curve and correct geometrical spreading loss of the interface waves, Prony’s method is used to simultaneously extract the dispersion of the velocity and attenuation while the geometrical spreading loss is simply corrected by product of in the interface waves. The attenuation profile is obtained by a synthetic example and it is shown that the method is efficient. This approach is also applied to one set of OBS data.
