Abstract

A high order sparse Radon transform is proposed to reconstruct seismic data and recover its amplitude variation. Radon transform summate amplitude along trajectories and its reconstruction precision will degrade while the resolution is improved. The lateral continuity of reflected wave’s amplitude can be fitted with orthogonal polynomials. Thus Radon transform can be expanded to higher order version combined with it. The higher order Radon transform include gradient, curvature and other higher order information of event besides the summation property. High order Radon transform is an over-determined problem; the problem is solved by extracting major model parameters from energy distribution in Radon domain, and a high order sparse Radon transform is achieved eventually. The proposed method can be used for data interpolation as well as extrapolation. Synthetic and field data examples are provided to demonstrate its AVO-preservation performance in data reconstruction.
