Full waveform inversion (FWI) is a powerful tool to determine quantitative image of Earth sub-surface from seismic data. It was initially applied to two-dimensional media due to highly computer demanding calculations. Here, we present our implementation of 3D elastic FWI in the time domain. We demonstrate successful application of the technique on a part of 3D SEG/EAGE overthrust model using multichannel OBC recording system. Our study confirms that 3D elastic FWI can be performed efficiently to recover both P- and S- velocities.
