Abstract

We present a novel acquisition and processing technique for crossline scattered noise attenuation. The process is based on the use of crossline rotational data to provide a crossline scattered noise model and adaptively subtract it from the data, while the inline propagating noise is removed using conventional array-based methods. Synthetic tests demonstrate the effectiveness of the technique, with significant improvement thanks to the new type of data. Data from a field test also demonstrate the improvement offered by the new technique.
