Abstract

A significant problem in slip-sweep acquisition is inter-record harmonic contamination. This paper presents a new method that separates harmonic components from the uncorrelated records and eliminates harmonic noise. We first obtain each order of the ground force harmonics by decomposing the ground force signal into the time-frequency domains using S-transform. We then use ground-force harmonics, in conjunction with the uncorrelated seismic record, to extract each harmonic order from the seismic data through sparse inversion. Finally, all predicted harmonic noise is eliminated through subtraction. A case study is presented which confirms the effectiveness of this method.
