Abstract

The oil and gas industry is seeing an increasing number of mega-3D marine surveys, designed in response to several factors, but especially access to huge license blocks with short exploration license periods. Following the award in Jan 2011 of four deep water concessions covering 24,000km2, a full exploration set of high quality seismic deliverables was planned to complete within 1 year of last shot. This abstract will review the seismic processing solution developed for and applied to a mega-3D marine exploration survey (12,030km2) acquired offshore South Australia and demonstrate the key factors for success and set some benchmarks for high quality turnaround.
