Abstract
The study provides an outlook of our understanding of source rocks. The Jurassic shales and Spekk formation particularly over the Norne area has been an object of the study. The elastic inversion performed on seismic data shows a distinct signature of source rocks on both AI and Vp/Vs volumes versus depth. This can be explained by source rocks maturation with depth. This method can be used to quantify maturity of source rock in other areas.
