Abstract

Two main components of the soil massif of the North Caspian shelf influencing the safety of offshore oil and gas installations are considered – soft soils and shallow gas accumulations. The identification of sites hazardous for the installations is carried out by using dual-frequency continuous subbottom profiling and high-resolution seismic. Geotechnical methods are used for the verification of geophysical data and for detailed investigations of physical and mechanical properties of soil foundations at the sites of the installations.
