Abstract

The Rustenberg Layered Suite, of the Bushveld Complex, South Africa, hosts some of the world's largest reserves of platinum-group elements. Although this Suite has been extensively studied in the past, there have been a few studies focusing on the rock physical properties of this Suite of mafic rocks. Wavelet analysis of density data from the Western and Eastern Limbs of the Bushveld Complex have revealed cyclicity seen before in the Northern Limb by a previous study by Webb et al. (2008). The current study is one of few working towards using rock physical properties such as density and magnetic susceptibility to understanding magmatic processes during the formation of the Bushveld Complex.
