Abstract

Gamma spectrometric method is used for determination of U, Th and K in laboratory and field conditions. For this purpose a gamma spectroscopic instrument GAD-6 with NaI detector was used. The study and experimentation of the main factors like geometry and calibration which influenced in the gamma spectrometry measurements was performed. Calibration procedures were carried out based in rock samples preparation, recommended by IAEA. Through the mentioned methods were analyzed thousand of rock samples for the U, Th and K content determination with great precision and low cost.
