Advances in Sub-basalt Exploration in the Faroe-Shetland Basin

Recent advances in sub-basalt seismic imaging and a growing well database has allowed the basalt-covered Faroese sector of the Faroe-Shetland Basin to be explored, and sub- and intra-basalt prospects evaluated with more confidence than ever before. We present new 3D seismic data over one of Statoil's operated licences in Faroese waters (FL011), indicating a complex volcano-stratigraphy overlying sub-basalt siliciclastic sediments.
