Abstract
D027 Non-Linear One-Dimensional Prestack Seismic Inversion with Edge-Preserving-Smoothing Filter S. Misra* (University of Alberta) & M.D. Sacchi (University of Alberta) SUMMARY A new algorithm for the inversion of P-wave velocity S-wave velocity and density parameters from prestack seismic data is developed. The algorithm ensures both the blocky and smooth characteristics of the model profiles. The approach follows a hybrid very fast simulated annealing technique to minimize an L2norm between the observed and predicted data. Incorporation of an edge-preserving-smoothing filter in the global optimization algorithm yields improved inversion results and faster convergence compared to the global optimization without the application of
