Abstract
E004 Linking Seismic Velocity to Rock Quality Q and to Seismic Quality Q in the Near-Surface N.R. Barton* (Nick Barton & Associates) SUMMARY A rock quality Q (range 0.001 to 100) has been in use for 30 years in rock mechanics. This has now been correlated to a depth varying velocity with deformation modulus prediction also linked to depth. Permeability due to jointing is also linked to quality. Finally seismic Q the inverse of attenuation is shown linked to velocity and to rock strength and therfore to Q-rock and to depth. EAGE 69 th Conference & Exhibition — London UK
