Abstract

F034 Modelling Cretaceous–Paleogene Over– Pressures in the Danish North Sea O.V. Vejbaek* (Geological Survey of Denmark & Greenland) SUMMARY Dis-equilibrium compaction has frequently been proposed as a cause for Upper Cretaceous – Palaeogene overpressures in central North Sea. By 1-D modelling is shown that permeabilities in the order of 10 nanoDarcy and compressibilites in the order of 1.3  10-7 Pa-1 may allow dis-equilibrium compaction to be the cause for overpressuring. Loading rates sufficient to generate over-pressure did not start before 11 to 15 Ma b.p. depending on location in the Danish Central Graben. EAGE 69 th Conference & Exhibition —
