Abstract
P044 A Hybrid Method for Linear Inversion of Geophysical Data A. Gholami* (Institute of Geophysics) & H.R. Siahkoohi (Institute of Geophysics) SUMMARY We introduce a hybrid method so called soft-thresholding of vaguelette coefficients (STVC) that combines classic inversion tools with wavelet transform in order to non-linearly solve linear inverse problems. We illustrated the potential of the method by applying on synthetic vertical seismic profiling (VSP) data. The results indicate that a simple nonlinear operation of weighting and thresholding wavelet coefficients can consistently outperform classical linear inverse methods.
