Naess* (Statoil ASA) SUMMARY The number of time-lapse or 4D projects is increasing and more experience has been gained.The realization that the quality is closely connected to positional accuracy is guiding how a 4D survey is done. This makes it necessary to understand and be able to explain the relationship between geometrical repeatability and seismic trace repeatability. This relationship is explained in a simple non-matematical way by decomposing the wavefield approaching the individual receiver position during both the base and monitor survey.
