Abstract

P181 Fixing the Non-Uniform Directionality Problem of Seismic Interferometry May Be Crucial to its Success C.S. Stork* (Seismic Waveform Solutions) SUMMARY The seismic interferometry method of replacing active sources with receivers that act as virtual sources has huge potential in seismic exploration. This potential is because receivers can be placed in many locations where it is impractical environmentally harmful dangerous or expensive to place active sources. Another compelling potential benefit of seismic interferometry is that it can improve seismic data by improving frequency bandwidth and controlling energy directionality—both of which would be very helpful for resolving near-surface land heterogeneities.
