Abstract
P212 Hydrocarbon Related Microtremors – Verification of an Analytical Oscillator Model by the Navier- Stokes Equations R. Holzner* (Spectraseis Technologies AG) P. Narayanan (ASCOMP GmbH Zurich) SUMMARY The presence of hydrocarbon reservoirs has been observed to be related to characteristic low frequency seismic signals. A possible explanation is the excitation of oscillations of the hydrocarbon filled pores of the reservoir rock. Synthetic spectra of the ab initio Navier-Stokes equations and of a basic linear onedimensional oscillator show comparable characteristic features of measured spectra when oceanic background waves
