Abstract
P233 Comparison of Borehole and Surface CSEM Techniques for Hydrocarbon Appraisal and Monitoring A C Maxey* (University of Southampton) L.M. MacGregor (OHM) & M.C. Sinha (University of Southampton) SUMMARY The uptake of conventional CSEM sounding for hydrocarbon exploration and well de-risking continues to increase. In this study we consider the benefits afforded by the use of a borehole CSEM (BCSEM) survey geometry with particular reference to reservoir monitoring applications. We show that the greater electric field change recorded by borehole receivers and their sensitivity to reservoir edges at ranges of up to several kilometres makes BCSEM a potentially powerful technique
