Hrouda* (National Oil Corporation) SUMMARY A regional study of the optical geochemical and biomarker maturity properties of organic matter dispersed in the Silurian and Devonian shales of the Ghadames Basin reveal a trend of increasing maturity for Lower Silurian hot-shale from middle mature (expulsion oil zone) in the North and southeast to very mature (gas generation zone) towards the central and southwestern parts of the Ghadames Basin.
