Gisolf (Delft University of Technology) SUMMARY A local inversion method based on the Born/WKBJ approximation is presented. Inhomogeneous smoothly varying background models are used. Previously the application of the WKBJ-approximation for the Green’s function in forward scattering problems was shown to be superior to the use of the standard homogeneous Green’s function for a large class of seismic problems.
