Abstract

P345 Application of Magnetic Directional Derivatives in Petroleum Geology Interpretation X.F. Xu* (BGP CNPC) Y.Y. Deng (BGP CNPC) & Z.X. He (BGP CNPC) SUMMARY Magnetic survey is mainly used for detecting igneous rocks and faults in hydrocarbon exploration. Conventionally vertical derivative of reduction to pole anomaly of  T is adopted to improve magnetic data interpretation precision. Here we introduce a typical case to show application of magnetic directional derivatives in judging reasonable residual gravity anomaly which mainly reflects geological structures formed during the period of igneous rocks’ development. In this way we can properly predict rules and trend of igneous rock
