Abstract

P216 Fractal Analysis of Ultrasonic Emission in Compressed Rock R. Ciz* (Freie Universitaet Berlin) & V. Rudajev (Geological Institute AS CR Prague) SUMMARY Fractal dimensions describe the random and deterministic processes by different values. Progressive microfracturing during the rock sample compression is known to be fractal. To evaluate the predictive value of fractal dimension for the estimation of rock structure failure two different experimental ultrasonic time series were analyzed: first series recorded during the short-term experiment with continuous linear loading regime and second series of middle-term experiment with incremental increase of action force. The results show that fractal dimensions decrease
