Some Practical Aspects of Migration Velocity Analysis - (1) Modified Differential Semblance Objective Function

We have developed a robust objective function that measures the discrepancy to flatness of the coherency panels. This objective function is a modified depth-offset differential semblance function. This function is nicely convex for a quite large range of high and low velocities, and it is stable with respect to the frequency content and to the depth of the events.
