Abstract

Summary

Implementation of an alternative method for amplitude corrections computation is performed and assessed on synthetic and real seismic data. The necessity of true amplitude seismic processing is highlighted. An overview of causes of amplitude anomalies in seismic data is presented. An overview of flaws of amplitude correction methods and tools currently available in some modern seismic processing packages is made. An overview of alternative method, based on robust statistical estimation of data and step-by-step quantitative and qualitative QC is proposed. Results of the different amplitude correction methods are quantitatively compared on real and synthetic seismic data, showing the advantages of the alternative method. Plans of the further improvement of the alternative method are presented.
