Abstract

Laboratory experiments on studying the ultrasound reflection from the interface between water and imperfectly elastic media are performed for the case of oblique incidence. It is shown that for the interface between water and low-loss material the experimental data are adequately described by a theoretical dependence obtained for perfectly elastic media. For the data obtained for the interface with contrast of anelastic properties such dependence is in error near critical angle. At the same time, the curve calculated for absorptive media approximates satisfactorily the experimental data. For the interface between water and water-saturated sand experimental reflection coefficients are unsatisfactorily described by theoretical dependences both for elastic and for absorptive continuous media. Possible causes of this effect are analyzed.
