Abstract
Summary
Characterizing near surface structures with remote sensing techniques is a common practice for different disciplines. Amongst them, Airborne Laserscanning (ALS) and Digital Imaging techniques like ortho images or airborne imaging spectroscopy play a predominate role. Digital Imaging techniques are limited where the surface is covered by vegetation especially forest. Exact these environments can, under certain preconditions of course, be penetrated by a laser beam. Fusing both data sources enable the user to draw a better picture of near surface structures, which are hidden under vegetated areas.
