Abstract

If, on one hand, seismic dataset is sometimes really very big, on the other, it is organized as a regular grid. The geostatistics algorithms, as they are implemented in most commercial softwares, don’t take into account this advantage, making tasks as experimental variograms computations very time consuming. In this paper, we show that making use of Fourier transform, it is possible to take advantages from seismic dataset organization, improving significantly the computational performance on experimental variogram computations.
