Abstract
To image properly the main oil reservoirs in the Paris Basin, a thin carbonate layer
(25 m) that lies at 2000 m below the surface, the bandwidth of the signal must be
widened beyond 3 octaves (10-80+Hz). During a group shoot acquisition project, the
possibilities offered by vibrator control electronics to enlarge the bandwidth and to
improve vertical resolution were tested for VSP, and surface 2D & 3D acquisitions
(Mougenot, 1999).
