Abstract

The Lauwerszee Trough is a northeast-trending sub-basin located within the Southem Permian Basin, and lies in the onshore area of northeast Netherlands. Referrred to as the "Golden Land" Trend, it is the classical Lower Permian Rotliegend gas play of the Netherlands, consisting here of the prolific, high net-to-gross sandstones of the Slochteren Formation trapped in tilted fault blocks and sourced from the Carboniferous.
