The interpretation of field measurements on electrical properties at high frequencies, e.g. EMR-measurements, requires detailed knowledge on relations between the electrical parameters at one hand and changes in lithology or pore filling at the other hand. Clay minerals play an important role in this subject due to their widespread occurrence and to the distinguished properties caused by electrochemical effects. In our measurements clay was used to simulate pore structures with varying internal surface. The dependence of electrical properties from pore filling and clay content was examined by changing water content. The investigations result in models quantifying the relations between lithology, pore structure and fluid content.
