Abstract

In order to investigate the quality of rock masses for the future exploitation of the “Plocnik” granodiorite quarry, the complex geophysical, geotechnical and remote sensing methods has been applied. Among geophysical methods several techniques has been tested, such as GPR, Electrical scanning and Single geophone refraction profiling (SGRP), in order to asses the most appropriate and cost-effective combination. Five drill holes were at our disposal at the time of performing the geophysical experiments. These bore-holes revelled the unexpectedly thick covering layer (up to 15 meters) composed of relatively thin clayey material and the thicker layer of the weathered rock, with the sharp lateral variations in thickness and physical properties.
