Abstract
First case study discusses a campaign set up and performed late 1989 for Statoil in order to determinate soil characteristics needed for the construction of the Zeepipe Landfall in Zeebrugge (Belgium). The morphology of the sea bottom was investigated by means of side scan sonar and bathymetrical survey, using a fan sweep echosounder. This mapped possible obstacles as well as morphological characteristics.
