f Depth Migration Velocity Models and Amplitudes

Prestack depth migration can provide good images in areas with significant lateral variations of velocity. However, for a prestack depth migration to be successful we require an accurate velocity model. The building of such a velocity model is a difficult proces. If in addition we require accurate relative amplitudes, this places significantly higher demands on the velocity model.
