Abstract
A number of North Sea reservoirs contain viscous oils in high permeability sandstones. One possible IOR technique is the injection of hot water. Even if specific hot water injection facilities are not provided on the platform, hot water (in contrast to cold sea water) may be available as a by-product of the separators or because the injected water is sourced from an aquifer.
