Abstract

Sometimes the physical characteristics of the sliding ground are very similar to those of a stabie one. Therefore the sliding surface may not necessarily coincide with a discontinuity measured by geophysical methods. The adoption of the high-resolution seismic reflection technique to landslide studies is justified by the possibility of obtaining structural information in any structural context and in the case of weak seismic velocity contrast. A survey combining this technique with EM and elctrokinetic SP has been carried out on the Le Boup landslide in the western Swiss Alps, to define the subsurface geologie structure, the surface of rupture separating the displaced material from the undisturhed one and to delineate the preferential paths of groundwater flow.
