Gravimetrie survey is rarely used in towns for geological or engineering purposes because of the areal limitations and an error caused by topographic changes, interference from buildings and communications. In their magnitudes, such errors can exceed true gravity anomalies. These obstacles can only be overcome by using high-precision gravimeters and gravimetrie monitoring.
