Abstract
The discovery of gas from the Cretaceous Niobrara chalk in<br>eastern Colorado's Yuma County was made by a local rancher in<br>about 1919. A weIl drilled with cable tools in what was to become<br>the Beecher Island field was completed for a reported flow of<br>2,000 MCFGPD.
