Abstract
A velocity-depth model is defined by layer velocities and reflector geometries. We present a method of estimating layer velocities using reflection traveltimes from 3-D prestack data. The method honors ray bending at layer boundaries, hence provides interval velocity estimation beyond the Dix approximation.
