Abstract

Many of the current palaeogeographic restorations for the late Carboniferous to Permian times are poorly updated by new stratigraphic data or limited by a too static Pangaea A-type approach also depending on the little amount and poor quality of Carboniferous and Permian palaeopoles. We started plotting available and new data on present day map. The relevant points we have derived from these plots are the following.
