Abstract
On the basis of ultrasonic measurements, sonic log data and seismic pre-stack inversion, the sensitivity of rock physics parameters for hydrocarbon detection is quantitatively evaluated. We investigate the fluid-sensitivity of each rock physics parameter and the combined ones in both ultrasonic and sonic frequency bands. By calculating the fluid indicator, the sensitivity sequence of the rock physics parameters are presented. The influence of rock porosity and fluid saturation on fluid indicator is also tested. λρ and λ are selected as the most effective in fluid discrimination in rocks. Based on the sensitivity analysis, the optimized parameters are applied in combination with the method of pre-stack seismic inversion. Natural gas reservoirs from gas-fields of southwest China are identified.
