Abstract
The Ekofisk field was discovered in 1969 by the Phillips Norway Group. Production started from Cretaceous-Damian chalks in 1971: Current estimates indicate nearly 8 billion BOE originally in place. The field has produced over 1.2 billion barrels to date from 160 wells with average daily oil production in excess of 200,000 barrels. A water-flood program has been in place on the field since 1987 and average daily water injection rates have recently reached 840,000 barrels. A water-alternating-gas (WAG) injection program is currently being evaluated (Figure 1).
