Suppression of ground roll using multi-component polarisation filters is not a new idea, though the methods are far from standard practice. Why is this? The main advantage of polarisation filtering is the potential to use single geophones (necessarily multi-component) rather than long arrays which tend to attenuate high frequency signal.
