f Acquisition of a Bottom Cable 3D Seismic Survey, Offshore Dubai, UAE - a Case History

The first large 2-component (hydrophone/geophone) Bottom Cable 3D seismic survey to be acquired in the Arabian Gulf was successfully completed disring 1994. The areal extent of the survey was 694 square kilometers of full-fold coverage and was located over two large existing oil fields in the offshore Dubai area. Selection of 2-component bottom cable technology for this survey was based on operational, technical, geophysical and financial considerations. In this paper the motivations for this. technology will be reviewed, and preliminary seismic results presented.
