A fundamental problem in the stratigraphic interpretation of seismic data is the absence of a direct relation between seismic data and lithology. Seismic attribute analysis aims af the extraction of significant information from the data assuming that the seismic appearance -seismic facies- can be related to (changes in) geologic facies.
