Abstract
In 1973 a differential migration scheme was developed by the late Fulton Koehler - which was based on the principle that the propagation operator should pass linear events without distortion. The corresponding requirement for integral migration was proposed by Newman in 1975. Koehlers migration was, and perhaps still is, highly successful but his ideas are not widely known. Newmans paper was not published until 1990. We suggest that their work is of more than historical interest.
