Abstract

The Midland Valley of Scotland is associated with strong anomalies in the gravity and magnetic domains and a distinct velocity structure. Exposed Lower Carboniferous alkali-olivine basalts have a mean volume susceptibility of about 0.06 SI; approximately twice that for Devonian andesitic lavas.
